The history of Villa Porta begins in 1820 when, designed initially to be a hunting lodge, in the late 18th century was transformed into an inn by Leopoldo Casnedi.
Over the years, the villa has been embellished by rare plants collected by Mr. Porta, the subsequent owner and expert botanist, during his travels. Numerous illustrious figures have fallen in love with this villa and have contributed to enhancing its beauty with interventions that have shaped the 10,000 sqm park, the charming Liberty-style greenhouse, the picturesque marina, and the majestic “Villa Porta” mosaic that still today shows off on the rocky wall.

Designed and built as a private residence in 1898 as wished by the Hussy family, originally from the Swiss canton of Aargau, the villa housing the Camin Hotel has always been one of the most characteristic places in the area. Uninhabited for several decades, it suffered the damages of time and neglect until the early 1970s when a family of German businessmen, the Luz family, decided to undertake a major renovation in every respect.
After several years of work, the lakefront and the locals were able to rediscover the beauty of its antique splendor, recovered from a state of neglect and happily restored to its former glory. The structure, with its elegant loggia tower overlooking the lake, is today appreciated and internationally renowned for the high quality of its services, the fascinating architecture of its forms and the splendid natural setting in which it is set.
